Adult Choir

Welcome to the new and returning members of the Choir who have come to serve during the 2010-2011 ministry season.  We are looking forward to serving and praising God together!

The choir is a vital instrument that God has touched to minister to the congregation of our church.

Our Role:

  • To assist and lead the congregation in corporate worship through the singing of hymns, gospel songs, and choruses.
  • To share anthems and seasonal music intended to inspire, to challenge, to encourage, and to reinforce our worship as believers in Jesus Christ.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When Is The Choir Season?

  • The choir season is September through the end of May.
  • Choir rehearsals are: Wednesdays - Room L-1 & 2 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
  • We also share in leading worship for the Yearly Meeting Sunday services, one Sunday in the month of July.
When Can I Join?
  • The best time to join the choir is in September or January as the choir begins learning the music for Christmas and for the spring musical.

How Can I Join?

  • Contact Pastor Phil DiSabatino at 330-966-2800
  • Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m., in Room L-1 & 2
  • There are extra rehearsals on occasional Saturday mornings for Christmas and the spring Gospel Concert.
Do I Have To Have A Solo Voice?
  • No, however, it is important to have a good ear and the ability to sing your part: soprano, alto, tenor, or bass.
What If I Don't Know What Part I Sing?
  • Pastor Phil will be able to assist you in determining what part would be best for you.
Do I Need To Have The Ability To Read Music?
  • No, about half of our choir members do not read music. Quite a few do and serve as leaders.  The ability to read music will come with practice.
When Do We Sing?
  • We sing for the 8:15 service each Sunday.  We will also sing for the 9:30 services on the Sundays preceding the Christmas and gospel Concerts.

What if I can only sing for the Christmas Concert and the spring gospel Concert, but not every Sunday at 8:15?

  • Call and talk to Pastor Phil if that is your situation.  You will need to be at Wednesday rehearsals beginning in October and at Saturday rehearsals so that you are prepared musically and get your singing voice in shape.
