Jesus had been traveling the countryside teaching, healing
people, casting out demons, and forgiving sin. Now that he had everyone's
attention he wanted to explain how good the "good life" was in his kingdom of
God. The passage recorded in Matthew 5:1-12 is often referred to as the
Beatitudes. This wonderfully deep portion of scripture may be one of the most
familiar, yet misunderstood passages in the Bible. We will take one Beatitude
each week, for eight weeks, during June and July, and try to grasp the
significance ofwhat Jesus'
teaching means for us today.
We are also creating new "DNA" Groups (Discussion 'N
Application) so that you can gather with a few friends to dialogue, pray and
apply these passages each week. We believe spiritual growth happens in
relationship with other believers.
